It almost seemed like I was hearing too much about your alarm clock routine, but I guess that that's exactly the point; it's supposed to feel excessive, almost irritating. And when you say that you "reached for it way to vehemently," we know what is going to happen, and the final sentence, by dragging out the final action, creates that unavoidable moment of regret where you wish you hadn't felt the previous moment's sentiment as strongly as you had...
